Haidemühl , Gózdź in Lower Sorbian , is a district of the town of Spremberg in the Spree-Neisse district in the southeast of Brandenburg . The place was created between 2004 and 2006 in the district of Sellessen as a resettlement place for the inhabitants of the devastated community Haidemühl and has been an independent district of Spremberg since January 17, 2006. In order to distinguish the place from the original community, which existed until 2008 as a living space of Welzow, the place was also called Neu-Haidemühl in the beginning .

location

Haidemühl is located in Niederlausitz , around five kilometers as the crow flies northeast of the city center of Spremberg and 18 kilometers south-southeast of Cottbus . The district of Haidemühl borders on all sides on the district of Sellessen . Surrounding villages are Muckrow in the north, Groß Luja in the east, Slamen Ziegelei in the south and Sellessen in the west. Haidemühl belongs to the official settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends in Brandenburg.

history

Haidemühl was originally a municipality located about ten kilometers west of Spremberg with around 650 inhabitants. This was only a cutting mill of the then municipality of Gosda , from which the place name can be traced back. From around 1992 Haidemühl was earmarked for devastation in favor of lignite mining. After the decision to demolish the municipality of Haidemühl by the Welzow-Süd open-cast lignite mine , an open space immediately east of the Spremberg district of Sellessen was chosen as the location for the resettlement in 1999.

In 2002 the construction of Haidemühl began. In 2005 the village community center was built. In June 2005, the town, which was not officially listed at the time, had 411 inhabitants. On January 17, 2006, Haidemühl was included in the district directory of the state of Brandenburg as a district of Spremberg. At the end of December 2006, the resettlement was fully completed. In Haidemühl, 176 rental apartments and 58 private homes, a primary school with a daycare center, a gym and the Sellessen biomass cogeneration plant with an electrical output of 2.8 megawatts were built.

Haidemühl is the youngest town to be founded in Brandenburg. With an average age of 43.7 years, the around 600 inhabitants of Haidemühl also have the youngest average age of all districts of Spremberg. The head of the village is currently (as of July 2020) Gunter Maltusch.
