Handball East German Oberliga (women) 1990/91

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The former women's handball league in the GDR started in the 1990/91 season as “1. Handball League "and was incorporated into the game operations of the German Handball Federation as a result of German reunification . With the SC Leipzig an East German indoor handball champion of the women was chosen for the last time .

Season course

The last season of the East German women's handball championship started on September 8, 1990 and ended on April 27, 1991 with the 22nd matchday. Instead of up to ten teams, eleven teams were involved, as there was only one relegated team in 1989/90 but two promoted teams with SV Berliner VB 49 and TSV Erfurt . Due to numerous departures, the BFV Frankfurt / Oder (formerly ASK Vorwärts) could not defend its championship title and was replaced by SC Leipzig. The 1st handball league was dissolved after the season and the teams involved were transferred to the women's handball league (positions 1 to 10) and the 2nd Bundesliga (bottom of the table SV 1950 Neubrandenburg ).
