Trade Commissioner

The Trade Commissioner is the member of the European Commission responsible for external trade policy . Since the Commission has very far-reaching powers on these issues, it is considered one of the more important portfolios. For example, the Trade Commissioner represents the entire European Union in negotiations in the World Trade Organization . The incumbent in the Von der Leyen commission was Phil Hogan from December 2019 to August 2020 .
