Hans Maximilian von Koeppern

Hans Maximilian von Koeppern (born December 16, 1735 in Tutow , † April 24, 1805 in Frankfurt (Oder) ) was a Prussian major general and most recently in command of the Danzig Fortress .

Life

origin

He was the son of Melchior Ulrich von Koeppern and his wife Katharina Sophie, née von Arnim . His father was the heir to Tutow and Daberkow and the district administrator of the Anklam district.

Military career

Koeppern came in 1752 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Schwerin" and became an ensign there on September 18, 1756 . During the Seven Years' War he fought in the battles near Prague , Kolin , Leuthen and Torgau . In the time he was on 9 December 1758 second lieutenant , and on January 8, 1760 First Lieutenant .

By November 1, 1777 Koeppern advanced to captain and company commander . As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . Koeppern was promoted to major on January 31, 1782 and appointed battalion commander on June 1, 1787. On September 24, 1790 he became a lieutenant colonel and rose to regimental commander on June 7, 1791. On May 10, 1792 he received the order Pour le Mérite and on January 12, 1793 he was promoted to colonel . In the Polish campaign of 1794/95 Koeppern was able to distinguish himself in the battle near Kamion. On April 14, 1795, he was appointed commandant of Danzig with a pay of 2000 thalers . On September 12, 1797, he received his resignation with a pension of 800 thalers.

To celebrate his 71st birthday, King Friedrich Wilhelm III. on April 24, 1804 the character as major general.

family

Koeppern lived with Charlotte Luise Bluttke (* 1771; † August 30, 1792). The couple had the following children:

  • Juliane Wilhelmine (born May 18, 1787)
  • August Otto (born April 23, 1789 - † May 2, 1813), died at Großgörschen
  • Ulrike Luise (born August 19, 1791)
  • Philippine Luise (born August 24, 1792)

The children were legitimized on January 23, 1795 by King Friedrich Wilhelm II .
