Hans von Schack (General)

Hans Georg Karl Wladislaw von Schack (born June 27, 1853 in Landsberg an der Warthe ; † December 9, 1934 ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Schack visited the cadet houses in Potsdam , Bensberg and Berlin . Subsequently, on February 16, 1871, he was transferred to the Magdeburg Fusilier Regiment No. 36 of the Prussian Army as Second Lieutenant . For further training he graduated from the War Academy in Berlin for three years from October 1876 . From October 1, 1880 to September 17, 1882, Schack served as regimental adjutant and was then commanded as an adjutant to the 13th Infantry Brigade in Magdeburg under position à la suite of the regiment . From April 21, 1883, this was followed by a one-year command to service the Great General Staff . This command was extended for another year. In the same capacity, Schack was transferred to Infantry Regiment No. 97 in Saarburg on April 18, 1896 . On September 12, 1896, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and regular staff officer . With his promotion to colonel on March 25, 1899, Schack was appointed commander of the infantry regiment "Herwarth von Bittenfeld" (1st Westphalian) No. 13 stationed in Münster . On September 12, 1902, he was promoted to major general and appointed commander of the 68th Infantry Brigade in Metz. In recognition of his services, Wilhelm II awarded him the Red Eagle Order II. Class with Oak Leaves and the Crown Order II. Class with a Star. In addition, Schack received on October 16, 1906 the character of Lieutenant General. A month later he was transferred to the officers of the army and on 16 February 1907, the statutory pension for disposition made.

On July 3, 1913 he was given permission to wear the uniform of the infantry regiment "Herwarth von Bittenfeld" (1st Westphalian) No. 13. During the First World War , Schack was reused as a zD officer and acted from August 2, 1914 to March 31, 1918 as the commander of the 44th Infantry Brigade in Kassel .
