The silver mine at Heidberg

Ore, especially silver and lead, was mined in the Heidberg mine as early as the Middle Ages. In the 17th century the production came to a standstill because of the Thirty Years' War . In 1718 it was reactivated and sold together with the Wildberger mine. The Cologne banker Hack had a major share. Pumps were soon used for drainage. 1770 another standstill, until 1870 the London "West Prussian Mining Company" takes over, which increases the annual yield to 2000 t per year. The decline in production from 1879 finally brings the Heidberger mine to a standstill.
