She studied German and psychology at the Free University of Berlin until she moved to New York at the age of 21 . There she attended the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theater by Sanford Meisner . Together with Philip Seymour Hoffman , she expanded and deepened her skills for several years with the method teacher Tony Greco. At Columbia University , Graduate Film Division, she worked with Leonore de Koven on Directing Actors in Film . As a founding member of an off-Broadway theater company, she appeared in John Patrick Shanley's plays Danny and the Deep Blue Sea as Roberta and in Savage in Limbo in the role of April White .
Hanold-Lynch was married to James E. Lynch, whose name they kept after the separation. In 1994 she returned to Berlin. From 1999 to 2010 she worked continuously as an acting coach in preparation and on the set for over 30 film and television productions, starting with the series St. Angela . She conceived and presented the workshop “Camera is running!” At the Munich Film Festival 2001, where she coached young people from the audience in front of the camera. Since 2010 she has been working as a freelance coach and lecturer for international castings at the iSFF ( Institute for Acting, Film and TV Professions Berlin). “Credibility - Let the essentials work until they work. An experience transfer from acting coaching ”, in January 2017 the essay written by Hanold-Lynch appeared as the main contribution in“ Organizational Consulting Supervision Coaching ”, an international discussion forum for a qualified consulting practice from Springer-Verlag Wiesbaden. In it, the author describes the development of her coaching approach, which emerged from twelve years of everyday coaching on the set, which focuses on credibility and materiality. A book on the subject is in progress.
Stephen Daldry urged Hanold-Lynch to pursue her own acting career when auditioning Der Vorleser in 2009 , and screenwriter David Hare wrote a role for her in the script. The encounter meant that Hanold-Lynch dared to start over as an actress parallel to her work as a coach. Since then she has appeared in supporting roles in other award-winning international cinema productions, including a. alongside Liam Neeson in Unknown Identity , alongside Tom Hanks in Cloud Atlas , most recently as the daughter of Tilda Swinton and sister of Adrien Brody in Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest Hotel .
In Germany, too, she has been proving her versatility in cinema and television productions since 2009. Franziska Augstein wrote in the Süddeutsche Zeitung about her character Else Weidt in Ein blind Held - Die Liebe des Otto Weidt : “This film is great cinema (...) Heike Hanold-Lynch, who is bitter, embittered and jealous, is great and not a particularly attractive wife. ”In addition to Edgar Selge in the title role, she plays an apolitical woman who hides her husband's great love from the Nazis in the film, which is based on Inge Deutschkron's experiences during the Nazi era . In addition to other film projects, Friedemann Fromm cast her in the first season of the successful Weissensee series, which was awarded the German Television Prize, as Stasi employee Erika Bergner. For Andres Veiel she was the mentor of Gudrun Ensslin in Who if not we and for Marc-Andreas Bochert in a leading role as a judge alongside Christoph Bach in Dyslexia . In the ZDF two-parter Alles muss raus - Eine Familie accounts (2014), directed by Dror Zahavi , she embodies the drugstore employee Marina , who was threatened by Hartz IV , based on the Schlecker scandal .
Whether as a criminal drifter in the ARD thriller The Fourth Power (director: Brigitte Bertele), German post-war housewife in Sam Garbarski's film "Once Upon a Time in Germany", naive heart with a weakness for line dancing in Mia Spengler's film debut "Back For Good" ( Berlinale opening film, Perspective German Cinema section), Sister Leonide in the historical docu-drama about Mata Hari (director: Kai Christiansen) or bank advisor in the soccer comedy “Volltreffer!” (Directed by Granz Hermann), Hanold-Lynch is not limited to genre or role type . Her soft spot is complex character studies such as B. the schizophrenic Verena Radzinsky in The Criminalist: Ashes to Ashes, directed by Filippos Tsitos. In the Kiel crime scene: Borowski and the land between the seas she plays the pious sexton Margot Hilse, director: Sven Bohse.
