Heinrich Missfeldt , also Missfeldt , (born December 20, 1872 in Suchsdorf near Kiel , † October 27, 1945 in Torgau ) was a German sculptor and medalist .

Life

Missfeld's parents were the brick factory owner Detlef Missfeldt and Elsabe Missfeldt, née Sinn. After an apprenticeship as a wood sculptor with Peter Schnorr in Kiel, he went to study in Berlin, first in 1891 at the teaching institution of the Museum of Applied Arts in Berlin and then at the Academy of Fine Arts with Gerhard Janensch , Ernst Herter and Peter Breuer . The "ball player" of 1903 was his artistic breakthrough. The Gladenbeck foundry listed various sculptures in its catalog. During this time Missfeldt was often represented at art exhibitions in Berlin and Düsseldorf. In 1906 he married Bertha Meyer (* 1867), the daughter of the Low German poet Johann Meyer . The Klaus Groth Fountain in Kiel from 1912 is considered the artist's main work. He was the brother of the painter Friedrich Missfeldt .
