Heinrich Karl Ernst Emil Leopold Freiherr von Ledebur (born January 8, 1832 in Berlin , † September 11, 1912 in Charlottenburg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Heinrich was a son of the historian Leopold von Ledebur (1799–1877) and his wife Emilie, née von Pritzelwitz (1806–1881).

Military career

After his education in his parents' home and the visit of the Friedrich-Wilhelm Gymnasium in Berlin Ledebur occurred on October 1, 1849 as a cadet in the 2nd Guards Regiment walk the Prussian army one. With the beginning of the war against France Ledebur was initially a company commander in the 2nd Battalion of the 2nd Guards Landwehr Regiment during the siege of Strasbourg . He then became leader of the fusilier battalion of the mobile regiment in front of Paris in mid-October 1870 and from the beginning of October 1870 he led the II. a. in the outpost battle of Stains and on December 21, 1870 at Le Bourget . Awarded the Iron Cross II. Class, Ledebur was assigned to the regiment as a staff officer on March 29, 1871 after the preliminary peace at Versailles and was appointed commander of the Potsdam NCO School on February 11, 1875 with a position à la suite . This was followed on February 25, 1886 as a major general and commander of the 17th Infantry Brigade in Glogau . In this position Ledebur received on the occasion of the religious festival in January 1888 the Red Eagle II. Class with oak leaves and swords on rings before it on February 14, under presentation of the character as a Lieutenant General with the statutory board for disposition was made.
