Heinz Feldmann
Heinz Josef Feldmann (born February 20, 1960 in Hachen ) is a German brigadier general in the Army of the Bundeswehr and has been a deputy commander in the Army Training Command in Leipzig since October 1, 2018 .

Military career
Training and first uses
In 1979 Feldmann joined the German Armed Forces as an officer candidate at the artillery rocket school in Geilenkirchen . From 1980 to 1983 he completed a degree in economics and organizational sciences at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg , which he graduated with a degree in business administration. In the following year up to 1984 he completed various officer training courses and from 1984 to 1986 he was finally employed as platoon leader with the rocket artillery battalion 62 in Kellinghusen . He then also served as a platoon leader in escort battery 6 at the same location.
From 1987 to 1990 Captain Feldmann served as the battery chief of the 4th Company of the 63rd Observation Battalion in Itzehoe . He was then transferred to Hamburg , where he initially served as an operations and training officer ( S3 ) on the staff of Panzer Grenadier Brigade 17 . From 1992 to 1994 Feldmann completed the National General and Admiralty Staff Course (LGAN) at the command and control academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg.
Service as a staff officer
After promotion to major , Feldmann was transferred to Koblenz in 1994 , where he served until 1996 as an operations staff officer (G3) in the newly established Army Command under the chief of staff , Brigadier General Klaus Frühhaber . During this time he got to know Hans-Christoph Ammon , who served in the same department and from whom he would later take over the command of special forces .
From 1996 to 1997 Feldmann completed a course at Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth , Kansas . Back in Germany, he took over the post of Operations Staff Officer in Veitshöchheim from 1997 to 2000 and at the same time Chief of Staff of Panzer Brigade 36 under the command of Klaus Holländer .
On March 29, 2000 Lieutenant Colonel Feldmann took over command of the observation tank artillery battalion 71 in Dülmen and led this until March 28, 2002. He was then transferred to the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn , where he was from April 1, 2002 to March 2005 as Adjutant of the inspector of the army under Gert Gudera and Hans-Otto Budde , served.
On March 1, 2005, he was promoted to colonel and transferred to Washington, DC , where Feldmann served in the German Embassy as an army attaché under Defense Attaché Hubertus von Puttkamer and Ambassadors Wolfgang Ischinger and Klaus Scharioth until 2008 .
After his return from the United States in 2009, Feldmann took over the post of Head of the Military Strategic Basics Division in the Armed Forces Command Staff (FüS III 2) in the Berlin Bendler Block under the direction of the Head of the Military Policy Department, Karl Müllner .
Service as a general
On September 30, 2010, Feldmann finally took over the position of General Special Forces from Hans-Christoph Ammon and, associated with this, management of the Special Forces Command (KSK) in Calw . In this capacity, he was appointed Brigadier General on January 26, 2011 . On March 27, 2013, Feldmann handed over the command of the KSK to Dag Baehr . From July 2013 to July 2014 he was spokesman for the ISAF troops in Afghanistan . From August 2014 to September 2018 he was Division Head Academic Planning & Policy at the NATO Defense College in Rome , which he handed over to Brigadier General Rolf Wagner . As the successor to Brigadier General Hartmut Renk , Feldmann became Deputy Commander in the Army Training Command in Leipzig on October 1, 2018.
Awards
Feldmann was u. a. awarded the Gold Cross of Honor of the Bundeswehr (2000). Due to his commitment to his former association, he received the badge of honor of the Special Operations Division in gold as part of the handover appeals on March 27, 2013. In addition, the KSK forces handed him a seal ring as the first commander. This award requires a unanimous vote from all commandos.
Private
Feldmann is married and has two children.
