Helmuth Möhring
Helmuth Möhring (born March 11, 1922 in Brockhöfe ; † June 21, 2006 in Lüneburg ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and dialect writer .
Life and work
Helmuth Möhring was born on March 11, 1922 as the son of a baker in Brockhöfe in the Uelzen district. After graduating from secondary school, he did Reich Labor Service from 1939 , took part in the Second World War as a professional soldier in the infantry and mountain troops and was captured in 1945. He then completed an apprenticeship as a baker in his father's business, which he completed in 1948 with the journeyman's examination. From 1948 to 1955 he worked as a journeyman baker . In the post-war period he also worked as a correspondent for the regional newspaper for the Lüneburg Heath .
After the remilitarization of the Federal Republic, Möhring continued his military career as a reserve officer in the Bundeswehr , most recently as a colonel in the reserve . He has been involved in the Association of Reservists of the German Armed Forces (VdRBw) since 1966 , was initially vice-president from 1978 to 1986 and then president of the association from 1986 to 1987. He then became its honorary president. From 1988 to 1992 he was also Vice President of the German Atlantic Society .
Möhring joined the ÖTV , was a co-founder of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt in Uelzen and from 1980 to 1990 chairman of the AWO district association Lüneburg / Lüchow-Dannenberg . He also campaigned for the promotion of the Low German language, has written several books edited and was the summer of 2001 from Lüneburg Mayor Ulrich Mädge first Low German appointed Drug Representatives of the city. He died on June 21, 2006 in Lüneburg.
Helmuth Möhring was married and had two sons.

Möhring joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) in 1946, was a council member from 1946 to 1954, and since 1948 mayor of the Brockhöfe community. From 1955 to 1969 he was managing director of the SPD sub-district Lüneburg-Harburg.
In the 1969 Bundestag election he was elected to the German Bundestag , to which he initially belonged until 1983. On July 8, 1986, he replaced Gerhard Schröder , who had left the Bundestag, to which he was a member until 1987. Möhring, who always entered parliament via the Lower Saxony state list , was a member of the Defense Committee and a contact member of the Western European Union , the European Parliament and the Council of Europe . He was also a member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly .
