Here We Go Again (dt .: is now going on that again ) is the second album of the American singer Demi Lovato . It was released in America on July 21, 2009. The album reached number 1 in the American charts, the single of the same name number 15.

Background and origin

Mike, Demi, Kevin and Drew at a concert in Ohio in August 2009

In May 2009, Lovato started working on her new album. One month later, in June, the recordings were already finished. Another month later the album was already released, so that the entire creation took just three months.

Lovato worked with music producers and / or songwriters such as Aris Archonitis , Gary Clark , Jeannie Lurie and Anne Preven who were not involved in their previous album . The German music producer Toby Gad also worked with her. She also wrote a few songs with John Mayer , John McLaughlin and William Beckett .

Music genre

While Lovato wrote almost all of the songs on her debut album Don't Forget with the Jonas Brothers , they didn’t play a role in the creation of the follow-up album. Instead she worked with John Mayer, among others, which she said would make the songs on the album sound more John Mayer-ish . This is known for his acoustic music style. Lovato himself said during the recording that this album would have a different sound and that she would move from rocking Don't Forget more towards power pop and synth pop . In terms of lyrics, the album deals with typical teenage topics such as independence , love and one's own identity .

Track list

The official track list was published on allmusic.com, among others. The track list was changed several times, the songs Shut Up And Love Me and For The Love Of A Daughter, for example, did not end up on the album. For the Love of a Daughter can now be heard on Lovato's third album Unbroken . The track Love Is The Answer , which Lovato wrote with John Mayer , cannot be found on either version for reasons unknown.
