Hermann Götz (politician, 1914)

Hermann Götz (born May 20, 1914 in Duppau , Kingdom of Bohemia , † April 21, 1987 in Fulda ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Götz originally came from the Sudetenland , where he passed the Abitur at the Humanistic Gymnasium. From 1928 to 1934 he was involved in the Roman Catholic youth movement. In addition to his university studies, which he completed in 1939, he worked as a defense agent in Czechoslovakia and was awarded the commemorative medal on October 1, 1938 for espionage . From 1939 to 1945 he was in the German Air Force .

In 1945 and 1946 Götz had to do forced labor in Czechoslovakia and came to Hessen in 1946 as a displaced person . Since 1947 he worked in the then Biedenkopf District Office as a civil servant in the emergency aid office. Since 1947 he was also a member of the district refugee committee and district chairman of the Association of Expellees.

Götz was managing director of the Federal Working Group for Soldiers Care, member of the Ackermann community of the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft . In December 1949 he was one of the signatories of the Eichstätter Declaration of the Sudeten Germans.

In 1961 he became a member of the Scientific Catholic Student Association Unitas -Rheno-Moenania Frankfurt.

Political party

Götz was a member of the CDU. In 1970 he was a board member of the CDU regional association of Hesse, chairman of the CDU regional committee for displaced persons and refugees and the committee for questions of external and internal security.

From 1970 to 1973 Götz was chairman of the East and Central German Association of the CDU.

MP

Götz was a member of the German Bundestag from its first election in 1949 to 1976. Previously elected via the Hessian state list, he has always been in parliament since 1957 by winning a direct mandate in the Fulda constituency . In 1964/65 and 1967/68 he was chairman of the budget sub-commission of the Bundestag executive committee . From June 25, 1968 to 1976, he was chairman of the social and social policy working group on the narrower parliamentary committee of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group. In the Bundestag he was a member of the committee for expellees .

Götz counted alongside Ludwig Erhard , Gerhard Schröder (both CDU), Richard Jaeger , Franz Josef Strauss , Richard Stücklen (all CSU ), Erich Mende ( FDP , later CDU), Erwin Lange , R. Martin Schmidt and Herbert Wehner (all SPD ) to the ten members who have been members of parliament without interruption for the first 25 years since the 1949 federal election.

On June 20, 1974 - also on behalf of his colleagues from the Sudetenland , Fritz Baier , Walter Becher , Egon Klepsch , Gerhard Kunz , Erich Riedl , Herbert Werner , Fritz Wittmann and Siegfried Zoglmann - in the Bundestag the rejection of the contract of 11 December 1973 on the mutual relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in accordance with the legal detention that the Sudeten German Council and the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft had lodged.
