Hermann Rudolf Hepp (born January 27, 1934 in Singen ) is a German gynecologist and obstetrician .

Life

Hermann Hepp was born on 1934 in the district of Konstanz . He attended the elementary school in Singen and the humanistic high school in Sankt Blasien , which he graduated with a secondary school leaving certificate . He then studied philosophy , sociology and art history from 1953 to 1954 at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . From 1954 to 1957 studied it medicine first at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg . Hepp completed the clinical semesters at the Universities of Hamburg , Vienna and Munich . In 1957 he received a scholarship from the Cusanuswerk . In 1960 he received his doctorate in Munich . Hepp began his medical work as a research assistant in 1962 at the Neurosurgical Clinic of the University of Freiburg, but on February 1, 1963 he moved to the University Women's Clinic under Heinrich Wimhöfer. On June 12, 1970, he became a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics. In 1969, Hepp completed his habilitation in gynecology and obstetrics in Freiburg and in 1972 became the clinic's senior physician . After Wimhöfer's death in 1970, he switched to the same function on April 1, 1973 at the University Women's Clinic at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz under Volker Friedberg . In 1974 he moved to Mainz and was appointed as an extraordinary professor . In 1976 Hermann Hepp was offered a chair for gynecology and obstetrics at the University of Lübeck , which was rejected. In 1978 he accepted the professorship at Saarland University in Homburg and was appointed director of the University Women's Clinic in October 1978. From January 1, 1983 to December 31, 1983, he was also Medical Director of the University Hospital Homburg. In January 1984, Hepp changed to the chair at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and became director of the gynecological clinic at Großhadern Clinic . Although he had already retired on April 1, 2002 , he managed the clinic until April 1, 2005.

Hermann Hepp was President of the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics from 1992 to 1994 and organized its congress in Munich in 1994 . From 1980 to 1982 he was President of the Middle Rhine Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics and is a member of numerous other specialist societies. The German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina elected him in 1989 as a member. Hepp has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Medical Association since 1996 .

Hermann Hepp was the co-editor of the specialist journals Gynäkologische-Natalsthilfliche Rundschau and Der Gynäkologe and member of the scientific advisory board of numerous specialist journals, including a. the journal of ethics in medicine . He published around 400 articles, in particular on endocrinology , operative gynecology, reproductive medicine , diabetes and pregnancy, extrauterine pregnancy , endoscopy, laser gynecology and sterility microsurgery.
