Hermann Friedrich Franz Schmidt (born July 13, 1880 in Nauen , † December 1, 1945 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer and politician ( center ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Schmidt began studying law in Bonn, completing the first state examination in 1902 and the second state examination in 1907. He received his doctorate as Dr. jur. and since 1913 worked as a local court advisor in Berlin-Lichtenberg . From 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier , and since 1915 as an adjutant in Berlin . He had been a member of the Chamber Court since 1920 and in 1927 he became President of the Senate of the Berlin Chamber Court. In addition, since 1921 he was a member of the Berlin Dissolution Office for Family Goods.

Schmidt was a member of the Catholic Fraternity KDStV Bavaria Bonn in CV and an honorary member of the KSTV Semnonia Berlin in cartel Association .

Schmidt was a council member of the community of Lichtenberg in 1919/20 and then until 1925 council member of the city ​​of Greater Berlin . From 1924 to 1933 he was a member of the Prussian state parliament . In parliament he had the suffix Lichtenberg .

Public offices

On March 5, 1927, Schmidt was appointed to the government of the Free State of Prussia , led by Prime Minister Otto Braun , as the Prussian Minister of Justice . On May 19, 1932, he resigned with the entire Ministry of State, but officially continued the day-to-day business in accordance with Art. 59 II of the constitution until March 25, 1933.
