criticism

The Heart and Diabetes Center North Rhine-Westphalia came under public criticism in 2000 when there and in other clinics a Turkish-speaking patient who was unable to speak German was refused a heart transplant. The patient's compliance for years of follow-up was assessed as insufficient due to the lack of language skills. The patient was transplanted at the Münster University Hospital , and the Giessen University Hospital had agreed to provide follow-up care . Nine days after the operation, the 56-year-old patient died of an acute rejection reaction .
