The Huachón district is located in the Pasco province in the Pasco region in central Peru . The district was founded on December 27, 1923 and has an area of 471 km². The 2017 census counted 4638 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3997, in 2007 it was 4579. The district administration is located in the 3400 m high village of Huachón with 1325 inhabitants (as of 2017). Huachón is 34 km east-northeast of the provincial and regional capital Cerro de Pasco .
Geographical location
The district of Huachón is located in the Peruvian Central Cordillera in the northeast of the province of Pasco. The 5723 m high mountain Huaguruncho (also Nevado Tarata), highest mountain of the Cordillera Huaguruncho , rises on the western border of the district. The Río Huachón drains the area to the Río Paucartambo to the east.
The district of Huachón borders in the west with the district Ticlacayán , in the northwest with the district Pozuzo , in the north with the district Huancabamba , in the northeast with the district Chontabamba (the last three districts are in the province Oxapampa ) and in the south with the districts Paucartambo and Ninacaca .
