geography

Hummetroth is located about four kilometers southwest of the core community Höchst in the northern Odenwald in the headwaters of the Annelsbach , which the Sauerwiesengraben flows into in the center, just east of the watershed between Gersprenz and Mümling . history

The earliest surviving documentary evidence proves the existence of the place Humbrechterode since 1314. In that year the brothers Heinrich and Arreus von Crumbach sold their bailiwick to the Höchst monastery . As a result, the place came under the rule of Breuberg and in 1806 with the Breubergian Zent Höchst to the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Hummetroth joined the municipality of Höchst on the occasion of the regional reform in Hesse on December 31, 1971, together with other communities. For Hummetroth, as for other integrated places, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was formed.

Attractions

  • Roman villa Haselburg , a villa rustica from the 2nd century AD, located in the southern tip of the district, not far from Ober-Kinzig.
