Huntington is a town in Chittenden County of the State of Vermont in the United States , with 1,938 inhabitants (according to census 2010).

Geographical location
Huntington is located in the southeast of Chittenden County, in the western foothills of the Green Mountains , on the eastern edge of the Lake Champlain Valley. The Huntington River flows through the area of the settlement in a northerly direction and takes in the water of many small, mostly nameless tributaries that flow from the surrounding mountains. There are only a few small lakes in the area of the town. The surface is hilly. The highest point is the 1244 m high Camels Hump .

history
Huntington was proclaimed on June 7, 1763 by Benning Wentworth as part of New Hampshire with an area of 6 by 6 miles, corresponding to the usual 23,040 acres (about 93.2 km²) for settlement. Edward Burling received the grant with 65 others. Huntington was named after three of the grant recipients with the surname Hunt. In the name of New-Huntingtton . The settlement started in March 1786. The first settlers were Jehiel Johns and Elisha Bradley and came from Manchester and Sunderland in Vermont. The town's constituent assembly took place in March 1790. On October 27, 1795 Huntington gave part of its area in the northwest to Richmond and in the northeast to Bolton. For this part of Avery's Gore and Buels Gore Huntington was slammed. In October 1795 the name was changed to Huntington's disease.
The Hurricane Belle taught 1,976 severe damage to Huntington. Two people drowned when a footbridge over the Huntington River was destroyed.

Culture and sights
Museums
The Birds of Vermont Museum is located in Huntington. It was founded in 1987 by Bob Spear a wood carver and bird watcher. It houses a collection of 495 biologically accurate, lifelike bird carvings designed to help people understand the role birds play in the ecosystem. The museum is surrounded by a bird sanctuary.

There are no federal roads that cross Huntington. The Interstate 89 and US Highway 2 running north of the Town, the Vermont State Route 17 south, which runs to the west from north to south Vermont State Route 116 attached to the Town over and in eastern Vermont State Route 100 . The town is accessed by several small streets.

There's no hospital in Huntington's disease. The University of Vermont Medical Center , Burlington, is the closest hospital.
education
Huntington is part of the Mount Mansfield Modified Union School District with Bolton, Jericho, Richmond and Underhill . In Huntington, Brewster-Pierce Memorial School offers education from preschool through fourth grade.
The Huntington Public Library is located in the Union Meeting House. It was founded in 1976.
