Huntington is located in the southeast of Chittenden County, in the western foothills of the Green Mountains , on the eastern edge of the Lake Champlain Valley. Camel's hump

Huntington was proclaimed on June 7, 1763 by Benning Wentworth as part of New Hampshire with an area of ​​6 by 6 miles, corresponding to the usual 23,040 acres (about 93.2 km²) for settlement. Edward Burling received the grant with 65 others. Huntington was named after three of the grant recipients with the surname Hunt. In the name of New-Huntingtton . The settlement started in March 1786. The first settlers were Jehiel Johns and Elisha Bradley and came from Manchester and Sunderland in Vermont. The town's constituent assembly took place in March 1790. On October 27, 1795 Huntington gave part of its area in the northwest to Richmond and in the northeast to Bolton. For this part of Avery's Gore and Buels Gore Huntington was slammed. In October 1795 the name was changed to Huntington's disease.

The Hurricane Belle taught 1,976 severe damage to Huntington. Two people drowned when a footbridge over the Huntington River was destroyed.

Museums

The Birds of Vermont Museum is located in Huntington. It was founded in 1987 by Bob Spear a wood carver and bird watcher. It houses a collection of 495 biologically accurate, lifelike bird carvings designed to help people understand the role birds play in the ecosystem. The museum is surrounded by a bird sanctuary.
