I'm Not There: Original Soundtrack

I'm Not There: Original Soundtrack is a double CD that was released on October 30, 2007 alongside the film I'm Not There . The album, which was also released on four LPs , contains 34 songs by Bob Dylan; There are also four bonus tracks on iTunes . Only the title song I'm Not There can be heard in Dylan's own version, the other pieces have been re-recorded by various interpreters.

Dylan recorded the song I'm Not There in 1967 with The Band during the Basement Tape Sessions , but did not release it. The original soundtrack album includes Dylan's original recording and a cover version of Sonic Youth .

A backing band called The Million Dollar Bashers can be heard on some tracks . This supergroup , specially put together for the recordings, consisted of Lee Ranaldo (guitar) and Steve Shelley (drums) from Sonic Youth , Nels Cline (guitar) from Wilco , Tom Verlaine (guitar) from Television , Dylan's bassist Tony Garnier , guitarist Smokey Hormel as well the keyboardist John Medeski .

Remarks

Ballad of Hollis Brown in a version of the Stooges can be heard in the film, but not included on the soundtrack album. On the other hand, not all songs on the album can be heard in the film.
