IC 3505 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBC with an active galaxy core in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is an estimated 616 million light years from the Milky Way , about 165,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is listed as part of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 1542 , but it is far too far away for that.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4515 , IC 3471 , IC 3519 , IC 3528 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 7, 1904 .
