IC 4982 is a galaxy of Hubble type P in the constellation Peacock on southern sky . It is estimated to be 271 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter. Together with LEDA 270900 it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair .
The galaxies NGC 6877 , NGC 6880 , IC 4981 , IC 4985 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on September 21, 1900 .
