IC 5101 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Peacock in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 225 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter. Presumably it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair together with IC 5100 .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on August 22, 1900 .
