The ITF Future Nord 2016 was a combined men's and women's tennis tournament that was held for the first time and took place from June 20 to 26 on the grounds of the TC at the Schirnau in Kaltenkirchen . The tournament director was Björn Kroll.
As a men's tournament, it was part of the ITF Future Tour 2016 and as a women's tournament it was part of the ITF Women's Circuit 2016 . Both parts of the tournament came with $ 10,000 in prize money each.
Because of a rainy tournament evening, the semi-finals and finals in the individual competitions had to be held on one day. In the men's singles the Frenchman Grégoire Jacq won after his semi-final victory against Kevin Krawietz in the final against Yannick Maden , who had to retire due to injury. After his success in Trento in March , this was his second individual title on the ITF Future Tour. The men's doubles were won by the two Hungarian Davis Cup players Gábor Borsos and Ádám Kellner . In the women’s category , Katharina Hobgarski won both singles and doubles alongside Julia Wachaczyk . In singles it was the first tournament success for 19-year-old Hobgarski at the ITF Women's Circuit.
There was a 32 field each in the singles. Of these, 20 places were awarded on the basis of world ranking positions. A further eight places were played in a qualifying tournament, which also took place in Kaltenkirchen on June 18 and 19.
In the men's doubles, the field of participants was filled to 16 with three wildcards, while the women's only eight pairs.
Prize money and world ranking points
At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. For the men, $ 10,000 was to be distributed, while for the women, $ 200 was deducted from the $ 10,000 prize money for initial medical care provided by the primary health care provider .
