Igor Mikhailovich Rybak

Igor Michailowitsch Rybak ( Russian Игорь Михайлович Рыбак , scientific transliteration Igor 'Michajlovič Rybak ; born March 31, 1934 , † September 28, 2005 ) was a Soviet weightlifter .

Career

Igor Rybak was a Ukrainian who started lifting weights at a young age. His club was "Avangard" Kharkov . Igor was a very good technician and in the mid-1950s he succeeded in convincing the then head coaches of the Soviet weightlifting association Jakow Kuzenko and Nikolai Shatow with his achievements. In 1956 he was used at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in the lightweight . He justified the trust placed in him and became an Olympic champion at the age of 22 . After that he had difficulties bringing the weight for the lightweight class (67.5 kg at the time) and started in the middle weight class (up to 75 kg body weight). In this weight class, however, he could no longer prevail at the national championships.

  • 1955, 1st place , USSR team championship, Le, with 370 kg, ahead of Chabutdinow, 372.5 kg and Nikolai Saksonow , 365 kg;
  • 1956, 2nd place , USSR, Le, with 375 kg, behind Alexander Falamejew , 375 kg and in front of Chabutdinow, 372.5 kg;
  • 1957, 6th place , USSR, Le, 370 kg, winner: Khabutdinov, 380 kg, ahead of Viktor Buschujew , 380 kg;
  • 1957, 1st place , Ukraine, Wed, with 400 kg;
  • 1958, 5th place , USSR, Wed, with 400 kg, winner: Bogdanowski, 417.5 kg, ahead of Alexander Kurynow , 407.5 kg.
