Ingrid Hjelmseth (born April 10, 1980 ) is a Norwegian soccer player . The goalkeeper is under contract with the Norwegian club Stabæk FK and was the goalkeeper of the senior national team in three European and World Cup finals .
Career

Hjelmseth started her career at Skjetten SK . Between 1998 and 2007 she played for Trondheims-Ørn SK and won the Norwegian championship in 2000, 2001 and 2003 and the Norwegian Cup in 1999, 2001 and 2002. In 2007 she moved to Asker FK , which was taken over by Stabæk IF before the 2009 season and with whom she was able to celebrate other championships and cup wins. With the club they participated in the 2011-12 UEFA Women's Champions League , UEFA Women's Champions League 2012/13 and UEFA Women's Champions League 2014/15 in part, but where it came only once to the next round.
National teams
Hjelmseth reached 3rd place with the U-21 team at the Nordic Cup in 2000 , in 2001 it was only 8th place. She made her debut in the Norwegian national team in 2003 and has been a regular goalkeeper since 2009. So far she has completed 131 international matches (as of April 9, 2019). Hjelmseth took part in the European Championships in 2005 (without commitment), 2009, 2013 and 2017.
The goalkeeper had five appearances with the Norwegian women's national team in Finland at the 2009 European Women's Football Championship and reached the semi-finals with her team . She conceded nine goals in the five games. She was in the squad for the 2011 World Cup and in the starting line-up in all three group matches. In the last group game, she had to be substituted at half-time due to an injury she sustained in the 29th minute. Since Norway lost the game against Australia , the World Cup was over for Norway.
In 2013 she was in the squad for the European Football Championship for women and reached the final with her team, in which Norway lost 1-0 to Germany . In the semifinals, she made it through two saved penalties in the penalty shootout against Denmark for the final.
In May 2015 she was nominated for the 2015 World Cup. She was used in the four Norwegian games, but was eliminated with her team in the round of 16 against England .
She also remained a regular goalkeeper under the new national coach Roger Finjord and made her 100th international match in the European Championship qualifier against Wales on October 23, 2015 .
For the 2016 UEFA Olympic Games qualifying tournament , in which Norway was the last to miss the qualification, she could not be considered due to an injury.
At the EM 2017 she was used in the three group games after which the Norwegians were eliminated for the first time without scoring their own as the group bottom.
In qualifying for the 2019 World Cup , she was one of the eight Norwegians who played all eight games. She conceded only four goals and four times no goal. In the end, they were group winners before European champions Netherlands . She had her first tournament success in 2019 when she won the Algarve Cup , in which she only had one bet. On May 2, she was nominated for the 2019 World Cup and thus her third World Cup. At the World Cup, she was in goal in the five Norwegian games. In the round of 16 against Australia , which had to be decided on penalties , she was able to save a penalty and thus helped her team to advance to the quarter-finals. There they lost 3-0 to England . She was able to prevent a higher defeat by saving a penalty in the 83rd minute. At 39 years and 78 days, she was the oldest goalkeeper used at the World Cup.
On September 3, 2019, she played her last international match in a 2-1 win against England. In 138 international matches, she remained clean 49 times.
