Ingrid L. Ernst

Ingrid Lucia Ernst (born July 26, 1945 in Kassel ) is a German theater director , lecturer for scenic design of space and language, dramaturge and author of stage-related productions with literary-philosophical texts and live music.

Artistic career

Ingrid L. Ernst studied in Stuttgart at the Ludwigsburg University of Education (art education), at the Technical University ( German studies ), and at the University of Performing Arts (drama). With a thesis on Johan Huizinga , she passed the first state examination in 1968 , then worked as a teacher in Germany and Brazil. The second state examination took place on the subject of social learning with media. She then worked on a project to research space-body concepts of the 1920s and 1930s (stay at "Goldsmith 'College" in London). From 1980 she taught as a lecturer at the University of the Arts Berlin , the Art Academy Berlin-Weißensee , the Muthesius Art Academy Kiel , and at the Bauhaus Dessau in the study area interdisciplinary, cooperative art and performative space. At the same time, she worked as a director at theaters in Munich, Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg, Münster and in unusual spaces in independent theater . From 1990 to 1995 she directed the literary-oriented Modern Theater Berlin . After her time as chief dramaturge at the Hans Otto Theater (Potsdam) , she worked again with her own experimental, exploratory stage projects: Since then, the focus has been on the interweaving of theatrical means with visual arts and literary texts.

Ingrid L. Ernst is married to Prof. RW Ernst and has two grown children. As chairwoman and member of the Freundeskreis Literaturhaus Berlin eV, she was the initiator of the Diner littéraire. From 2012 to 2016 she was a member of the Board of Trustees for the Performing Arts Fund. Member of the Förderverein Temnitzkirche eV and the German Werkbund DWB.
