production
A pilot episode was ordered by The CW , but rejected there for series production and ultimately accepted by Netflix .
criticism
It was criticized that the television series propagated fat shaming and initiated a petition to have it removed even before the television series began. It is feared that the television series will lead to eating disorders in young girls and therefore the television series will not be shown in the first place. By the end of July 2018, almost 208,000 votes had been cast for dismissal.
