Jörg Aumann
Jörg Aumann (born May 9, 1969 in Saarbrücken ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and Lord Mayor of the district town of Neunkirchen .
Life
Jörg Aumann grew up in the Saarwellingen district of Schwarzenholz and attended elementary school there. He began his high school education at the Johanneum grammar school in Homburg , where he also attended boarding school, and finished it in Saarlouis at the Robert Schuman grammar school , where he graduated from high school in 1988.
From 1988 to 1989 he did his 15-month military service in Daun ; Immediately afterwards, he began studying law at Saarland University in Saarbrücken, which he successfully completed after seven semesters with the first state examination in law. After a two-year legal traineeship, during which he completed a traineeship with a lawyer in Oakland , California and also attended Stanford University as a "Visiting Scholar" , he passed the second state examination in 1996.
From 1996 to 1997 he worked as a lawyer in a Saarlouis law firm . From 1997 to 1999 he was assistant to the management of the parking company Saarbrücken. In 1999 he moved to the state capital Saarbrücken, where he was legal counsel in the municipal legal office until December 31, 2009 .
From January 1, 2010 to September 30, 2019, Aumann was mayor (first full-time alderman ) in Neunkirchen, after the city council elected him to this office on November 25, 2009.
In November 2018, the SPD Neunkirchen nominated him as their candidate for the mayoral election on May 26, 2019. In the first ballot he was the clear winner, but narrowly missed the necessary absolute majority. On June 9, 2019, he was elected Lord Mayor in a runoff election against Dirk Käsbach ( CDU ) with 57.6 percent as successor to Jürgen Fried (SPD). He took office on October 1, 2019.
Jörg Aumann is married and has three children.

Jörg Aumann has been a member of the SPD since 1990. From 1994 to 2004 he was a member of the local council in Saarwellingen as a member of the SPD parliamentary group, of which he was deputy parliamentary group chairman from 1999 onwards.
In the SPD from 2000 to 2004 he was chairman of the local association in his hometown Schwarzenholz and from 2003 to 2004 he was also chairman of the Saarwellingen SPD.
The focus of his political work was initially particularly on youth policy (so he successfully campaigned for the establishment of a youth house and the establishment of a youth council in the Saarwellingen community and a youth club in Schwarzenholz), later on family, business settlement and sport - and environmental policy priorities.
From 1995 to 2010 he was state manager of the social democratic community for local politics in Saarland (Saar-SGK).

Jörg Aumann took on honorary posts in the area of Saarland sports associations and, in addition to his association work, was involved in his local environment. From 1999 to 2008 he was a member of the board of the FV Schwarzenholz, since 2000 as its chairman. From 2006 to 2008 he was a member of the Westsaar district board of the Saarland Football Association (SFV) and during this time class leader of the district league West. From 2010 to 2019 he was a member of the Presidium of the Saarland Cyclists Association (SRB), of which he has been President since 2016.
Endurance athlete
After playing soccer, Jörg Aumann discovered his love for endurance sports - initially as a commuter to Saarbrücken by bike, and since 2008 also as a runner. In 2009 he took part in his first marathon in Frankfurt , which he finished in 3:29:59 h.
This was followed by participation in St. Wendel in 2010 (3:09:23 h) and Berlin in 2011 (3:03:54 h), before he managed the first marathon under three hours in Berlin in 2012 with 2:56:47 h. This was followed by further runs of the "Abbott World Marathon Majors" marathon series in New York 2013 (2:59:33 h), Boston 2015 (2:59:02 h), Chicago 2016 (2:59:47 h) and Tokyo 2018 ( 3:07:30 h). He also ran the 2017 marathon in Hamburg with Christoph Gill, the only Saarlander besides himself who achieved at least four different Major Six marathons under three hours (3:15:04 h).
In addition, he ran numerous half marathons (best time 1:22:45 h at the Bottwartal Half Marathon 2013) and took part in many ten-kilometer fun runs (best time 37:41 min, Bad Kreuznach 2015).
As a racing cyclist, he is a member of the Club des Cinglés du Mont Ventoux, whose members have to climb Mont Ventoux from all three sides at least once a day in order to be accepted, and he has many well-known climbs on the Tour de France (including Col du Galibier , Alpe d'Huez , Col de l'Iseran , Col de la Madeleine , Col du Tourmalet ) with the racing bike. Since 2016 he has been the Saarland company sports champion in relay triathlon four times in a row with the team from the district town of Neunkirchen and the community team district town / Sparkasse Neunkirchen.
Others
As a student, Jörg Aumann showed great interest in working with legal databases and legal informatics . a. the juris database that was just being created at the time . As a trainee lawyer, he and two fellow students founded a company ( SaNeT Aumann & Ferdinand GmbH ), which advised many customers in Saarland on entering the Internet and carried out projects with them in the then still young World Wide Web . With the help of the SPD Saar company, it was the first Saarland party to have its own website on the World Wide Web. After passing the second state examination, however, he decided to pursue a professional career as a lawyer and left the company. After later renaming, the company is still present on the market today under the name one4vision .
From 1999 to 2019, Jörg Aumann held one-day seminars for prospective local politicians as a lecturer at the Saarland Democracy Foundation , in which he taught the systematics and practical application of Saarland local law.
