Jack Bannon , actually John Bannon , (born June 14, 1940 in Los Angeles , California - † October 25, 2017 in Coeur d'Alene , Idaho ) was an American actor .

Life

Jack Bannon began his career in the late 1960s. Although he was rarely seen in feature films, he instead played guest roles in numerous well-known television series between the mid-1960s and the mid-1990s, such as Detective Rockford - a call is enough , Kojak - Mission in Manhattan and Charlie's Angels . He gained fame among the American television audience from 1977 through his role as 'Art Donovan' in the series Lou Grant , which he played in 114 episodes until 1982. After the series was discontinued, he received one of the leading roles alongside Lou Ferrigno in the hospital series Trauma Center, which was discontinued after 13 episodes. The following year, he had a recurring guest role in the soap opera Knots Landing . He had another recurring soap opera guest role in California Clan in 1988 . In the mid-1990s, his television engagements became less frequent, and he subsequently appeared in supporting roles in some of his brother-in-law's B-movies, Joey Travolta .

Bannon was married to the actress Ellen Travolta for the second time since 1983 and was brother-in-law of John Travolta .
