James Michael "Jamie" Pushor (born February 11, 1973 in Lethbridge , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and current professional and scout , who played 535 games for the Detroit Red Wings between 1988 and 2007 . Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , Dallas Stars , Columbus Blue Jackets , Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers in the National Hockey League as defender . A significant part of his career also completed Pushor in the American Hockey League , where he completed another 445 games. Since the 2018/19 season he has been employed by the Tampa Bay Lightning from the NHL as Director of Professional Scouting , after having worked there as a scout since 2011.

Career

Jamie Pushor began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with the Lethbridge Hurricanes , for which he was active from 1988 to 1993 in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League . In his final WHL season, he won the WHL Humanitarian of the Year Trophy as the most exemplary player on and off the ice. During his WHL time, the defender was also selected in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft in the second round as a total of 32nd player by the Detroit Red Wings . For the Detroit farm team , the Adirondack Red Wings , he played from 1993 to 1996 in the American Hockey League before making his National Hockey League debut for Detroit towards the end of the 1995/96 season . He played for Detroit into the 1997/98 season , but was transferred to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim shortly before the end of the trade deadline . The Red Wings won the Stanley Cup that season . For the Californians, with whom he was under contract for a little over a year, he scored a goal in a total of 84 games and gave another four templates.

The 1999/2000 season spent Pushor with the Dallas Stars in the NHL. In the following three years he played for their league rivals Columbus Blue Jackets and Pittsburgh Penguins before signing again as a free agent in Columbus on December 10, 2003 . There he could not finally prevail in the NHL team and only played seven times for the Blue Jackets, but 17 times for their AHL farm team Syracuse Crunch . After just over a month, the Canadian was transferred to the New York Rangers , for which he also played seven games by the end of the season. The rest of the time he was on the ice for their AHL farm team Hartford Wolf Pack . From 2004 to the end of his career at the age of 34 following the 2006/07 season , he ran as a regular player and team captain for his former club from Syracuse in the AHL. Only in the 2005/06 season he played four more games for their partner team Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL and scored one goal and two assists.

After a break of several years, Pushor returned to the NHL as a scout in the 2010/11 season and worked for one season with the Atlanta Thrashers . He then moved to Tampa Bay Lightning , where he held this position for seven years before being promoted to Director of Professional Scouting in the 2018/19 season
