Jan Peka (born July 27, 1894 in Rataje nad Sázavou , Bohemia , Austria-Hungary ; † January 21, 1985 in Prague ) was a Czechoslovak ice hockey goalkeeper who represented his home country at a variety of international tournaments, including the bronze medal at the Won 1920 Summer Olympics .

Career

Jan Peka played soccer and bandy as a teenager before he came to ice hockey at Studentský Hockey Cercle Karlín . Between 1910 and 193 he took part with the SHC Karlín in the ice hockey championship of the Bohemian Crown Lands and was appointed to the cadre of the Bohemian national team in 1913 . With this he took part in the European Championship in 1913 , where he won the silver medal. After this success he moved to AC Sparta Prague , for which he was then active as a football defender. In 1914 he was called up for military service and fought on the Serbian front during the First World War . During this time he was captured and did not return to Prague from Thessaloniki, Greece , until 1919 .

He then played for the AC Sparta Prague ice hockey team in the Czechoslovak championship before moving to the then top club LTC Prague in 1927 . With the LTC he became Czechoslovakian champion six times , won the Spengler Cup three times and the Tatra Cup twice . He ended his career after the 1935/36 season.

At the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp , he won the bronze medal in the Olympic ice hockey tournament with the Czechoslovak national team . Eight years later he took on the Olympic ice hockey tournament of the Winter Games in St. Moritz in part and a further eight years later at the Winter Games in Garmisch-Partenkirchen .
