Jannis Nikolaou (born July 31, 1993 in Bonn ) is a German - Greek soccer player .

Career

Nikolaou, whose father is Greek and whose mother is German, started in his youth at TB Witterschlick , VfL Rheinbach and Bonner SC , before moving to 1. FC Köln in 2006 . With the club's U17s, he played 19 games in the B-Juniors Bundesliga West, with the U19s between 2010 and 2012 in the A-Juniors Bundesliga West. In 2012 he got a contract in Cologne and from the 2012/13 season played in the second team in the Football Regionalliga West and played a total of 92 games in which he scored six goals.

For the 2015/16 season he moved to the 3rd division for FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt and signed a two-year contract with an option for another year. He made his competitive debut on matchday six against the second team of VfB Stuttgart . He scored his first goal on matchday 27 against Erzgebirge Aue . In total, he played 29 of the 38 season games in his first season.

After two years in Erfurt, Nikolau moved to third division club Würzburger Kickers for the 2017/18 season , where he received a two-year contract.

A year later he moved to the second division Dynamo Dresden for the 2018/19 season , where he received a three-year contract. Nikolaou was relegated from the second German Bundesliga with the Dresden team. On July 13, 2020, he moved to the second division Eintracht Braunschweig , where Jannis Nikolaou signed a contract until 2023.
