Bérubé spent his junior years between 2008 and 2011 in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec at the Club de hockey junior de Montréal . After he had acted as a substitute for Jake Allen in his first year and was selected in the fourth round in the fourth round of the NHL Entry Draft in 2009 by the Los Angeles Kings from the National Hockey League , he played the following two years as a regular goalkeeper . At the end of the 2009/10 season , the goalkeeper made his professional debut with Los Angeles' farm team , the Manchester Monarchs , in the American Hockey League .
After Bérubé was finally signed by the Kings in May 2011, he was used in the following two seasons with the Ontario Reign in the ECHL , before he was promoted to the 2013/14 season and henceforth for the Manchester Monarchs in the AHL between the post stood. The French-Canadian was the team's regular goalkeeper in both game years at the Monarchs and played a key role in winning the Calder Cup in the 2014/15 season . In autumn 2015 he went into the season as the third goalkeeper for the Los Angeles Kings behind Jonathan Quick and Jhonas Enroth . Although he had been in the squad for shorter periods of time the previous year, he had not been used.
In an attempt to send him back to the AHL via the waiver list at the beginning of the 2015/16 season in October , Bérubé was hired by league rivals New York Islanders . There he initially acted as the third goalkeeper behind the Slovak Jaroslav Halák and the German Thomas Greiss until the 2016/17 season . As a result, he was rarely used or was used sporadically with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the AHL. It was only when the Islanders abandoned their model with three goalkeepers in the current squad at the beginning of the 2017 calendar year and ordered Halák into the AHL that the French-Canadian took over the position of back-up behind Greiss.
In June 2017, he was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft . For his election, Vegas also received Jake Bischoff , a first-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2017 and a second-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2019 . Furthermore, the Golden Knights took over the contract from Michail Hrabouski , who will most likely not play a game due to an injury. Bérubé's expiring contract was not extended in Las Vegas, so he joined the Chicago Blackhawks as a free agent in July 2017 . After a year in which he again failed to assert himself permanently in the NHL, and he played both minutes in the NHL for the Blackhawks and their AHL farm team Rockford IceHogs , he was exchanged for Jordan Schroeder in June 2018 delivered to Columbus Blue Jackets . There he spent the 2018/19 season exclusively in the AHL before joining the Philadelphia Flyers as a free agent in July 2019 . There he was used exclusively in the AHL with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms before the Flyers handed him over to the New York Rangers in February 2020 without any further consideration .
Achievements and Awards
- 2015 participation in the AHL All-Star Classic
- 2015 Calder Cup win with the Manchester Monarchs
