The two albums Shadows in the Rain (2001) and Pure Joy (2003) were created. From 2000 to 2003 Thomas worked in the Morricone Trio with Paolo Fresu (trumpet) and Antonello Salis (accordion). The result was the album “You Can't Keep a Good Cowboy Down” - Jens Thomas Plays Ennio Morricone . Invitations to the jazz festivals in Montreux , Paris, Berlin , Helsinki, Frankfurt and the Munich Piano Summer followed. The album Memory Boy , released in 2016, was created in an artistic correspondence with Matthias Brandt's stories, which were published at the same time under the title Raumpatrouille .

For Luk Perceval's production of Othello at the Münchner Kammerspiele 2003, Thomas first worked with his own voice. Since then, in addition to his work as an improvising pianist, he has also appeared as a vocal performer. From 2005 to 2007 he was artist in residence at the Schauspielhaus Bochum , where he improvised concerts and performances under the title PianoVoices with numerous guests from a wide variety of genres. During this time his CD project “Goethe! Song of the Spirits ”. With the dancer and choreographer Henrietta Horn, Jens Thomas designed the dance evening Solo II / Now! and the project Freilang , with the dancers of the FTS (Folkwang Tanzstudio), whereby the focus was on the free improvisation of music and dance. In 2008 the solo performance Hallo Bochum followed at the Schauspielhaus Bochum. After further theater work, the album Speed of Grace was created in 2012 , in which he transformed the hard rock of AC / DC into chamber music ballads.
Word music programs
Thomas has been working with the actor Matthias Brandt since 2013 . Together they developed the programs “Psycho” and “Angst” as collages from reading, concert and theater. The program “LIFE - Raumpatrouille und Memory Boy” followed in 2017, in which Thomas contrasts Brandt's childhood memories with his own songs, which are also summarized on his album Memory Boy . Irmgard Keuns The Artificial Silk Girl was adapted for the stage by Thomas and Fritzi Haberlandt in 2015 .
