Yevgeny Nikolayevich Grigoriev ( Russian Евгений Николаевич Григорьев ; born 20 jul. / 4. March  1899 greg. In St. Petersburg ; † 16th April 1981 in Leningrad) was a Soviet theater - and film - actor .

Life and accomplishments

Yevgeny Grigoryev was born in St. Petersburg as the son of Nikolai Grigorjewitsch Grigoryev († 1920) and his wife Xenia Dorofejewna. The father came from the Pskov governorate and worked in the Obuchow factories , the mother was a housewife .

At the instigation of his parents, he attended a school for paramedics in Kronstadt from 1914 . Due to the First World War , the training was shortened and Grigoryev was assigned to the Navy in autumn 1916 . He initially served in a Kronstadt hospital, but was then transferred to the front and witnessed the battle of Jamburg . Even after the war ended, Grigoryev remained in the Navy and served on the Bogatyr from 1920 . He was later transferred to the Garibaldi , and in 1922 he was finally demobilized .

Grigoryev already showed artistic interest during his military service and attended the drama school in Petrograd from 1918, but his active service left him little time to study. From 1922, however, he was able to devote more time to his training. Although he is not mentioned in the graduate lists of his school, which has meanwhile been converted to the Institute for the Performing Arts , according to various statements, he should have graduated there in 1923 or 1924. In the years mentioned, the young up-and-coming actor appeared at the Great Drama Theater M. Gorki and then moved to the Volkshaus (1924–1925). This was followed by engagements at the Red Theater (1925–1926) and in the youth theater (1926–1930). In August 1930 Grigoryev returned to the Gorky Theater and stayed there until August 1936. He then got a job at its branch in Murmansk and, after its liquidation in 1938 , came to the regional theater there for a season . The next stop on his stage work was to be the Moscow State Theater of Cinema Actors . Grigoryev made his debut here in 1945 in a small role as a soldier in Бранденбургские ворота ( Brandenburgskije worota ; German: Brandenburg Gate) under the direction of Boris Babotschkin . For reasons of rationalization, however, he was dismissed in December 1948, petitions to the responsible minister Ivan Grigoryevich Bolshakov were unsuccessful. He temporarily accepted concerts, including in the Moscow Oblast Philharmonic , but in December 1951 was able to get a seat in a military theater of the troops stationed in the GDR . In June 1954 Grigoryev moved to a similar institution in the People's Republic of Poland for about a year and then completed a season at the theater of Omsk Oblast . The dark-haired actor completed his stage career at the Leningrad Theater of Cinema Actors , where he appeared from 1959 to 1965.

Grigoryev made his film debut in 1925 as an extra in Тяжелые годы ( Tjaschelyje gody ). His next role followed ten years later in the two-parter Великий гражданин ( Veliki graschdanin , 1937/39). In the revolutionary film Разгром Юденича ( Rasgrom Yudenitscha , 1940) by Pavel Petrovich Petrow-Bytov gave Grigoryev his first major role and was then taken by the Lenfilmstudio under contract. After the outbreak of the German-Soviet War , the company relocated to Alma-Ata . This is where the comedy Славный малый ( Slawny maly , 1942) came into being, in which Grigoryev was allowed to play the only leading role of his film career as partisan commander . However, the film was withdrawn and never came into theaters. Years later, he achieved another engagement as a leading actor in Tatjana Nikolajewna Lukashevich's Сухой дол ( Sukhoi dol ), but the shooting was stopped for financial reasons. As a result of his foreign appearances Grigoryev was not seen in the film between 1950 and 1957, he made his comeback in Его время придёт ( Eto wremja pridjot , 1957), a film about Shoqan Uälichanuly . It was followed by Девочка ищет отца ( Dewotschka ischtschet otza , 1959), in which Grigoryev played one of his most important roles. His other notable engagements in тебя Люблю, жизнь ( Ljublju tebja, Zhizn 1960), Никогда ( Nikogda , 1962), Улица младшего сына ( Ulitsa mladschego syna , 1962) and Трудный путь ( trudny put , 1964). Grigoryev was also seen in several films shown in German-speaking countries, the first of these works, in which his name also appeared in the credits , was Alexander Rous The Night Before Christmas (1962). In July 1965, his contract with Lenfilm was terminated , whereupon he retired, but took on a few engagements until the end of the 1960s.

In addition to his work in front of the camera, Grigoryev could also be heard in the Russian-language versions of a Polish and a Yugoslav production as well as in four films from the Union Republics as a voice actor. His filmography comprises a total of 42 works. Although Grigoryev's career is primarily linked to the Lenfilmstudio , he has also worked for Mosfilm a few times , e.g. B. in Небо Москвы ( Nebo Moskwy , 1944) and Родные поля ( Rodnyje polja , 1944).

Private

Grigoryev was married to Lidija Ivanovna Rassochina, who was nine years his junior, and their son Alexander was born in 1945.
