Dust from the fold of being by Giovanni Segantini

Dust museum

In 1989 Rönneper founded his conceptual dust museum at the same time as the presentation of his Dutch dust collection in the Hedendaagse Kunst Utrecht under the title stofmuseumstaub . The catalog of the same name includes, among other things, an art-historical article on artists who up to now have artistically addressed dust ( Marcel Duchamp , Man Ray , Andy Warhol ). In 1989 Rönneper sent 800 inquiries asking for dust in an international campaign. He then received a total of 126 dust samples. A total of 278 cultural institutions in Belgium, the Federal Republic of Germany, Great Britain, Austria and Switzerland took part in this campaign.

Rönneper took the first dust sample in 1984 from the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna in Rome, the last in 2019 from the painting Seestück by Gerhard Richter . The collection from national and international museums, cultural and memorial sites includes 482 dust samples, for example from the Musée Picasso Antibes and the Queen's Gallery in Buckingham Palace , drilling dust from the Kassel Apollon , radioactive dust from Chernobyl , dust from the dust filter mat system of the Dortmund Museum of Natural History and from the fold of the Alpine triptych by Giovanni Segantini in the Segantini Museum .

In addition to this historical museum dust, the collection also contains dust from the studio, the stage and the authors, including those from Gerd Bonfert and Winfried Bornemann . In spring 2019, he completed his dust museum as an artistic total work of art in the form of an object box with numbered, inventoried roll-rim bottles.
