Joseph "Joe" Chalmers (born January 3, 1994 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish football player .

Career

Joe Chalmers was born in the Scottish city of Glasgow , where he began his football career with Celtic FC . Until 2012 Chalmers played mainly in the Youth Academy of the Bhoys . On August 25, 2012, at the age of 18, Chalmers made his professional debut in the league game against Inverness Caledonian Thistle when he came on for Emilio Izaguirre . Under the Northern Irish coach Neil Lennon 's team Chalmers won at the end of the season with players like Fraser Forster , Anthony Stokes , Kris Commons , Victor Wanyama , Gary Hooper , Tony Watt , Georgios Samaras , Joe Ledley , Scott Brown , the Scottish Cup and the FA Cup . By January 2014 Chalmers only played three competitive games for Celtic so that he was awarded to the Scottish second division club FC Falkirk by the end of the 2013/14 season . For the club from the Central Belt , he played eleven times in the championship . In June 2015 Chalmers signed a two-year contract with Motherwell FC . The contract was not renewed after two years, so he joined Inverness Caledonian Thistle during the 2017 summer break. With Inverness he won the Challenge Cup in the final against FC Dumbarton in 2018 .

National team

Joe Chalmers played internationally for Scotland from 2009 to 2014. After his debut in the U-16s in August 2009, the defensive player played in the following years for the older age groups of the U-17 , U-19 , U-20 and U-21 .
