Fritze Bollmann

Johann Friedrich Andreas Bollmann , called Fritze Bollmann (born January 5, 1852 in Salbke near Magdeburg , † May 7, 1901 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) was a barber in Brandenburg who was involuntarily made the original by his surroundings .

Life

Bollmann was the son of the line weaver Johann Friedrich David Bollmann from Salbke and his wife Marie Sophie, née Mesenberg, from Groß-Ottersleben . He learned the trade of hairdresser , which at that time was called a barber . Between 1875 and 1879 he worked in Berlin , Ziesar and Fehrbellin . After Fritz Bollmann had already worked as an assistant in a barber shop in Brandenburg an der Havel in 1875 , he returned to the city in 1879. From 1882 to 1896 he ran his own barber shop in the old town of Brandenburg , but also served customers in their apartments. He married around 1882, his bride brought into marriage an illegitimate child, and ten more children were born, but only three of them reached adulthood. Despite his quick and hard work, Bollmann got into an economic hardship that turned him into an alcoholic. The often drunk Bollmann was mocked and annoyed by children ("Fritze"). Bollmann didn't understand the fun of children, he chased the children and sprinkled them with shaving cream. Since nobody took him seriously, he became the mockery of Brandenburg. Several changes of residence did not stop the mockery. Bollmann died penniless at the Municipal Hospital in secretarial and syndicate house at the old town market of tongue cancer . His grave is in the old town cemetery in Brandenburg an der Havel.

The writer Hermann Fiddickow took the figure of Fritze Bollmann as a template for the novella “Fritze Bollmann. The tragic comedy of the Brandenburger Barbier ”, in which he took the poetic freedom to turn the really troubled father of a family into a bachelor of 40 years.
