Johann Sylvius von Rothkirch

Johann Sylvius von Rothkirch (born March 12, 1715 in Romnitz in the Duchy of Liegnitz , † April 10, 1782 in Züllichau ), was a Prussian major general .

Life

He was a member of the Silesian noble family Rothkirch . His parents were the heir to Romnitz Johann Wolfram von Rothkirch and Anna Helena von Schönfeld adH Schönfeld .

career

On March 11, 1735, Rothkirch joined the Prussian Army and on January 5, 1741, was promoted to ensign in the Old Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 19 . He was promoted to second lieutenant on December 15 that same year and was promoted to first lieutenant on April 26, 1750. This was followed by the ranks of staff captain on October 19, 1756, real captain on May 21, 1757, major on August 6, 1759 and finally lieutenant colonel on June 5, 1765 .

Rothkirch had served in all the Silesian Wars . So he took part in the battles near Mollwitz , Roßbach , Leuthen , Breslau , Kunersdorf and Hochkirch , the sieges of Glogau, Brieg and Prague , the battles near Hirschberg, Landeshut , Schatzar and Hennersdorf .

As a result of a bruise on his foot that he had suffered before Leuthen, Rothkirch asked the king in 1767 to leave . This provided him on April 27, 1767 with the character of a major general as head of the Berlin Land Regiment .
