John J. Easton

John J. Easton (* before 1964) is an American lawyer and politician who was Vermont Attorney General from 1981 to 1985 .

Life

John J. Easton received his bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado in 1964 and graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 1970 with a law degree . He served in the US Air Force . He was admitted to the bar in 1970. From 1970 to 1972 he worked in Montpelier for the law firm of Paterson, Gibson, Noble and Brownell. From 1972 to 1975 he worked together with Davison in a law firm. From 1975 to 1978 he was Assistant Attorney General and from 1978 to 1980 Director of the Rate Setting Department for the Agency of Human Services . As a member of the Republican Party of Vermont , he served three terms as Attorney General of Vermont from 1981 to 1985. In 1984 he ran unsuccessfully for governor of Vermont. He was Vice President of Syn Cronamics, Inc. from 1986 to 1987. In Burlington , he worked at the Miller, Eggleston and Rosenberg, Ltd. law firm .

In 1989, Easton was appointed Secretary of State for Domestic and International Energy Policy by President George W. Bush , later also Head of Legal and Secretary of State for International Affairs and Energy Emergencies .

In 1994 he took over the position of Vice President at the Edison Electric Institute (EEI).

Easton is married and resides in Timonium , Maryland with his wife, Donna .
