Clarke C. Fitts

Clarke Cushing Fitts (born October 17, 1870 in Wardsboro , Windham County , Vermont , † December 20, 1916 in Watertown , Massachusetts ) was an American lawyer and politician who was Vermont Attorney General from 1904 to 1908 .

Life

Clarke Cushing Fitts was born in Wardsboro, Vermont to Osmer C. and Abbie M. Fitts. He attended school in Brattleboro , his father died when he was 14 years old. He was admitted to the bar in 1891. He then worked as a lawyer in Brattleboro. He was District Attorney for Windham County from 1894 to 1896 . As a member of the Republican Party of Vermont , he had a seat in the Vermont House of Representatives in 1904 and was a delegate for the town of Brattleboro in the General Assembly of Vermont in 1905

Fitts first married Harriet Lyon († 1897) in 1898, from this marriage came the sons Robert I. Fitts and Stanley C. Fitts. In his second marriage he married Maud L. Emerson, from this marriage the son Osmer C. Fitts came.

He died on December 20, 1916 in Watertown, Massachusetts. It is not known where his grave is located.
