Herbert G. Barber

Herbert Goodell Barber (born August 14, 1870 in Wardsboro , Vermont , † October 5, 1947 ) was an American lawyer and politician who was Vermont Attorney General from 1915 to 1919 .

Life

Herbert Goodell Barber was born in Wardsboro, Vermont. Barber had a law firm in Brattleboro , Vermont. He was District Attorney for Windham County from 1898 to 1900 . As a member of the Republican Party of Vermont , he had a seat in the Vermont House of Representatives from 1908 to 1910 and 1935 to 1937 and was a member of the Vermont Senate from 1912 to 1914 . He belonged to universalism , was a member of the American Bar Association, was a Freemason and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows .

Barber married Florence H. Whittier. The couple had two sons and a daughter.

Herbert G. Barber died on October 5, 1947. His grave is in Meeting House Hill Cemetery in Brattleboro.
