M. Jerome Diamond

Michael Jerome Diamond , called Jerry Diamond , (* before 1963 in Brattleboro , Vermont ) is an American lawyer and politician who was Vermont Attorney General for three terms from 1975 to 1981 .

Life

Jerry Diamond was born in Brattleboro to Leo and Sonya Rose Diamond.

He attended George Washington University where he received his bachelor's degree in 1963 . He received his master's degree from the University of Tennessee in 1968 . He was admitted to the Vermont bar in 1968 and to the United States District Court for the District of Vermont in 1969. He was admitted to the United States Supreme Court in 1975 and to the US Court of Appeals in 1980, First and second instance.

He was a member of the Delta Theta Phi legal fraternity and the Order of the Coif , and was a member of the College of District Attorneys in Houston , Texas . He was Ernest Gibson's legal trainee from 1968 to 1969 . As a member of the Democratic Party of Vermont, he was District Attorney for Windham County from 1970 to 1975 . He was Vermont Attorney General for three terms, from 1975 to 1981. He was Vice President of the National Association of Attorneys General from 1978 to 1979 and President in 1980.

He was a member of the Vermont Advisory Group and the US Commission on Civil Rights , Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Vermont Bar Foundation from 1990 to 1993, and Director of the Vermont Bar Foundation from 1997 to 2007. Curator of Vermont Law School from 1994 to 2012. Is a member of the Vermont Bar Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America . He is a partner in a private law firm in Montpelier .

Jerry Diamond is married to Carol Candy Diamond and the couple have eight children.
