Thomas M. Debevoise

Thomas McElrath Debevoise (born August 10, 1929 , † February 1, 1995 in Lebanon , New Hampshire ) was an American lawyer and politician who was Vermont Attorney General from 1960 to 1962 .

Life

Thomas McElrath Debevoise graduated from Columbia Law School in 1954 . He served as the Assistant Attorney General in Manhattan for two years . He later moved to Woodstock , Vermont . He was named Deputy Vermont Attorney General in 1958 and was elected Vermont Attorney General two years later. He was a member of the Republican Party of Vermont .

He was named Dean of Vermont Law School in South Royalton in 1974. He held this office for eight years. He then returned to his private law firm in Woodstock.

Thomas M. Debevoise was married to Ann Taylor Debevoise, the couple had three sons and a daughter.
