Joost Winnink (born June 30, 1971 in Peize , Drenthe ) is a former Dutch tennis player .

Life

Winnink played his first matches on the ATP Challenger Tour in 1989 , but was able to win a match in the main draw for the first time at the 1991 tournament in Bangalore . In the meantime he played on the ATP Satellite Tour to collect world ranking points. He had a first minor success in 1991 with the semi-finals participation in the double competition of the Challenger tournament in Bossonnens on the side of the Croat Saša Hiršzon . In 1992 he stood next to Tomáš Anzari for the first time in a double final. He won his first of a total of seven double titles on the ATP Challenger Tour in 1993. On the ATP World Tour , his greatest success was taking part in the finals at the South African Open in 1995. At the side of Martin Sinner, he was defeated by the French pairing Rodolphe Gilbert and Guillaume Raoux in three sentences. His best individual result on the ATP World Tour was in Ostrava in the same year , when he reached the quarter-finals as a qualifier by winning against Javier Frana and David Prinosil , where he was defeated by Patrik Kühnen in three sets . He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1995 with position 152 in singles and position 101 in doubles.

His best individual result in a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the second round at the US Open in 1995, when he won as a qualifier against Greg Rusedski . In the doubles competition he reached the second round at the US Open and the Australian Open .
