In 1807 Abel returned to Vienna and was inspired by his teacher Füger from the general enthusiasm and admiration of Klopstock . In a friendly competition with his colleague Martin Johann Schmidt , known as Kremser Schmidt, Abel created a huge picture with the title Klopstock in the Elysium : Klopstock becomes Klopstock, guided by a muse, received by Homer at the head of the most famous poets of old and modern times introduced into the Elysium. The landscape for this work was done by Johann Christian Reinhart .
