Joshua "Josh" Gratton (born September 9, 1982 in Brantford , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Manchester Monarchs in the American Hockey League since October 2014 .

Career

Josh Gratton, who was never drafted in his career , played the first three years of his career as a hockey player in the Ontario Hockey League for the Sudbury Wolves , Kingston Frontenacs and Windsor Spitfires . In the summer of 2003, the Canadian decided to move to the ECHL , where he made his professional ice hockey debut for the San Diego Gulls . In the middle of the season he was given to the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks from the American Hockey League .

After only half a year, the attacker received a contract with the Philadelphia Phantoms , the farm team of the Philadelphia Flyers , with whom he won the Calder Cup in the 2004/05 season . This season he was also used in a game for the former farm team of the Phantoms, the Trenton Titans from the ECHL. During the 2005/06 season , Gratton made his debut for the Flyers in the National Hockey League , but was given to the Phoenix Coyotes on March 9, 2006, along with two second-round voting rights for the 2006 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Denis Gauthier .

His first NHL goal scored Gratton as a player of the Coyotes in a game against the Colorado Avalanche on April 11, 2006. During his time in Phoenix Gratton played 41 times for their AHL farm team San Antonio Rampage . On February 28, 2008 he was given to the New York Rangers together with Fredrik Sjöström and David LeNeveu in exchange for Marcel Hossa and Al Montoya , but he was only used for their Hartford Wolf Pack farm team .

On July 9, 2008, Gratton received a one-year contract with the Nashville Predators for both the NHL team and their AHL farm team, the Milwaukee Admirals . But already on October 30, 2008 Gratton was given to his ex-club Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Tim Ramholt .

The 2009/10 season he began with the Chicago Wolves , before he was committed in January 2010 by Vitjas Chekhov from the Continental Hockey League . In a year and a half, however, he completed only 35 games for Vitjas, after which he moved to Barys Astana for the 2011/12 season within the KHL . After a year in Astana, he spent the 2012/13 season in Rødovre , Krasnodar and Qaraghandy , where he only came to a few missions, and returned to Astana for the 2013/14 season. But even there he completed only eleven KHL missions in the entire season, so he decided to return to North America.

In October 2014 he signed a contract with the Manchester Monarchs from the American Hockey League and won the Calder Cup again with them at the end of the season.
