The youth center Bechtolsheimer Hof (abbreviated b-hof ) is an institution of the open child and youth work of the department youth and family of the city of Würzburg . It is supported by its own association . The annual number of visitors is around 15,000.

History of the building

The Bechtolsheimer Hof youth center is located in the vaulted cellar of the building complex of the same name, which also offers space for the Stadtmitte elementary school.

The Bechtolsheimer Hof was built towards the end of the 17th century by the Italian baroque master builder Antonio Petrini . At the beginning of the 18th century, the building came into the possession of the noble Bechtolsheim family , who used the courtyard as the town's seat. Until it was almost completely destroyed in March 1945 by Allied bombings , the building complex served, among other things, as a sparkling wine cellar and space for a seminary . In 1965 the city council decided to rebuild the ruin, which is now a listed building. In 1968 the Bechtolsheimer Hof elementary school could be started.

After the Falkenhof youth center had to make way for an extension to the city library, the Bechtolsheimer Hof youth center was officially opened on April 1, 1991.
